In order to stay a market leader Cox knew that they needed to harness the power of their web site and find new ways to support their national network of merchants and dealers.

The Need

Cox offers the most extensive range of stockbreeder and veterinary products within the UK and their products, sold by agricultural merchants across the UK are regularly used by over 95% of farmers. So whilst their web site was to act as a product catalogue their national network of merchants and dealers, who span some of the most remote corners of the UK, required a way of securely placing orders - without being on the Interrnet all day.

The Solution

To deliver a SiteSolved powered web site with the functionality of a scalable and updateable catalogue - using data extracted from the Quark files that created their printed catalogue. Create a stand alone software application (named Cox:Linx) that allows Cox's merchants to securely place orders with Cox with the facility to batch transfer the orders as and when it suited them. Before implementing SiteSolved Cox received hundreds of faxes per day from their network of merchants and dealers and already, in this the 1st phase of roll out, Cox are feeling the benefit from receiving orders electronically and because the Cox:Linx software that the Merchants use connects directly to coxagri.com any updates Cox make to their web site is seamlessly synchronised with the Merchants making sure they are always using the most up-to-date product and price information.

Future Scope

When Cox come to producing their new printed catalogue they will, by virtue of the SitePublish module, be able to export and use the information on their web site and save a tremendous amount of time and money that is usually associated with production cycle (typesetting and design) of such printed documents.
